Rivington Place - Ever Young, James Barner

4 November 2010

White cube.
Small space , bigger space, art-works on the wall and in a display box with glass on top.

I took photo's of the hang in the space. It was a traditional hang, photo's in glazed frames, the distance to the other etc.
Notable was the really big open space in the middle of the room, because they only used the walls.

Exhibition as a result of an archival research. He takes the photo's of women in a way that they look very attractive, but very natural. It goes beyond the image, the shape of the arms and legs, the slight muscle signs showing in the fore arm and the feminine hairdo. Or a strict face of which you can read that there's a lot going on in her mind.
All the portraits are printed in black and white, they are telling their story. Even the models for the cover of the magazine have that 'real woman' (think of aretha franklin) thing about them while they are models at the same time.
